Demarks ‘cold season’ lasts from October to April, spending so much of their year covered in snow the Danes have come up with a name for the coziness you feel sat near a fireplace or drinking a hot chocolate (hygge).

Classic Program
Our Classic program will match you with a welcoming host family and place you in a nearby school. We find the host family and choose the school, and you can enjoy immersing yourself in local culture & community. These are perfect for students who:
* Flexible about location, and the academic experience
* Want to have a cultural experience
* Interested in joining sports, clubs, and activities
* Grow as a person and improve language skills
Classic high school exchange program
Age and eligibility
Be at least 15 years old on arrival and no more than 18 years on the last day of the program period. Allergies and dietary requirements must be indicated clearly on the application and if students need a specific food that is not served by the host family, the student must purchase additional items for themselves. Unfortunately, vegans can not be accommodated on this program.
Program length
Programs are available for 3 Months, an Academic Semester or Academic Year.
Schools
You will be enrolled in a local high school, called a Gymnasium if aged over 16. You will select subjects based on the stream of study you choose. Each school has at least one stream focusing on mathematics and natural science, foreign languages, and social studies. Subjects are taught in Danish and the work will often be in small research groups. Students must bring their laptop and will be expected to be responsible for their own learning.
Compulsory subjects include classical studies including Danish, English, History, Mathematics, Physical Education and Social Studies.
Language criteria
An online language course is recommended prior to departure.
Visa
Students require a visa for Academic Semester and Academic Year programs. For short 3 month exchange programs, students will travel on a tourist visa. Further information will be provided by your Program Coordinator.

Welcome Camp (AU $1,295)
Kick off your Nordic exchange with an optional orientation camp in Stockholm. You’ll join students heading to Norway, Sweden, Finland and Denmark, making friends before your exchange even begins.
Settle in after the long flight, explore the city, and get a first taste of life in Scandinavia.
The camp includes practical workshops to help you feel confident about living with a host family, starting at a new school and navigating cultural differences. This a chance to arrive feeling prepared, connected and ready for the program ahead.
