Early Bird Discount
Early Bird applicants get $500
discount off the published price of semester or year programs:
- For departures in January/March -
Send your application and $500 deposit by the last business day
of the preceding May to receive $500 discount off the
published price.
- For departures
in July/August - Send your
application and $500 deposit by the last business day
of the preceding October to receive $500 discount off
the published price.
Group Discounts
If you’re interested in our Summer Explorer
Programs apply with two others. If you’re all
successful you’ll each receive $500 off the
published price.
Scholarships
Student Exchange Australia offers a total of 35
scholarships valued at over $112,000 each year:
24 Language Scholarships
Valued at either $2,500 or $3,500 each. |
| In addition to your completed application form, applicants
must write a 1000 word essay entitled
“Why Learn French?” (or German, or Japanese, or Italian,
or Spanish, for example). The application and essay must also
be accompanied by a language teacher’s recommendation form,
which may be downloaded from here.
Deadlines are the same as for the Early Bird Discount noted above. |

9 Creative Arts Scholarships
Valued between $1,000 and $3,500 each. |

tshirt design competition. There are three competitions each
year, all with different themes. See www.makeyourmark.org.au for

2 International Affairs Scholarships
Valued at either $2,500 or $3,500 each. |
| These Scholarships are named after Rawdon Dalrymple AO, one
of Australia’s leading post war diplomats. In addition
to your completed application form, applicants must write a 1000
word essay. If you’re in year 9 or 10, the essay is to
take the form of a letter starting with “Dear Prime Minister…” and
must address a matter of international importance such as, the
environment or human rights, for example. If you’re in
year 11 or 12 the essay is to address a topic of international
importance, such as, global warming or Australia’s trading
relationships, for example. Choose a subject that you’re
passionate about and argue your point. The scholarships can be
used toward a Student Exchange Australia year ($3,500) or semester
($2,500) program. Deadlines are the same as for the Early Bird
Discount noted above. |

Rawdon Dalrymple AO
Rawdon Dalrymple was born
in Sydney and went to school and university there. He was Rhodes
Scholar for NSW in 1952 and graduated from Oxford with first class
honours in Philosophy, Politics and Economics. He lectured in philosophy
at Sydney University and then joined the Department of External
Affairs in 1957. He joined the Asian Development Bank in Manila
in 1967 as Alternate Director, was then minister in the Australian
embassy in Jakarta from 1969 to 1972, and ambassador to Israel
from 1972 to 1975. In 1981 Mr Dalrymple was appointed ambassador
to Indonesia, in 1985 ambassador to the United States and in 1989
ambassador to Japan. He was made an officer of the Order of Australia
in 1985. After retiring from Foreign Affairs and Trade in 1994
Rawdon Dalrymple had a number of business and government appointments. |
